Dr. Johnson-Hood (Dr. PJ) welcomes all patients by building great rapport and providing a safe space for each individual to feel at ease in a non-judgmental environment. She believes in equipping patients with psychoeducation, positive resource tools to aid them in feeling empowered to be able to calm their minds and uses evidenced based treatments that focus on helping them to experience optimal mental health. Dr. Johnson-Hood does not believe in a one-size fits all approach to mental healthcare. She realizes that everyone is an individual and an approach to therapy may require drawing from several treatment modalities including Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness, as well as a host of other therapy modalities, to include ones that specifically addresses trauma. She is trained in both Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) and Flash Technique to assist patients who suffer from trauma. Dr. Johnson-Hood can provide psychological testing, evaluations, and psychotherapy services for teens and adults.
Dr. Johnson-Hood is well versed in military life, having served honorably both stateside and overseas as a United States Air Force officer and being the wife of a career United States Marine Corp. Officer. She has dedicated her career to assisting active-duty service members, her fellow Veterans and their family members, and other community members, especially those suffering from trauma. In addition to PTSD, Dr PJ can also help patients who suffer from anxiety, depression, anger management, stress management, adjustment disorders, and interpersonal conflict. She really enjoys assisting patients to identify, dismantle and replace core beliefs that tend to hold them back from experiencing the life they truly want to live.
